Walker's Virtual Workshops
~~~~~~~~~~
Wednesday Walker Workshops
THREE workshops will be offered in August.
Full descriptions are below.
Brand NEW! How (and Why) to be a Better Sight-Reader!
Using scads of examples (which you will be seeing for the first time), we’ll work through the various tried-and-true techniques that will help you spend more time playing through new repertoire instead of slogging through the old repertoire over and over…. We’ll also discuss the importance (or unimportance) of being able to read standard notation. You won’t “master” these skills during a 90-minute workshop, but you’ll be well on your way towards getting it under control.
Keep Calm and KEEP GOING!
This workshop is brought to you by a Very Shy Performer. Yes, dear friends, Yours Truly used to absolutely HATE getting up on a stage, but if I can do it, so can you! Whether you want to sing and play at an open mic or just serenade the family dog, I'll share experiences from my long musical career that will help you have more confidence on any stage. Don't like to sing? You're a Nervous Nellie? No problem -- all aspects of presenting your best performance will be covered, including how to prepare an effective setlist. I'll incorporate some of your own concerns, anonymously of course, regarding stage fright, and together we'll conquer the world!
NEW-ish! Put Down the Pick! A Compleat Fingerstyle Course.
This new 90-minute workshop combines elements from two of Carol's best-selling workshops, "Babysteps to Fingerpicking" and "Piedmont Picking." We'll start off with some basic right-hand exercises, and then apply these same techniques to create achingly gorgeous slow songs, and really impressive rhythmic fast songs.
Here's the nitty-gritty:
NEW! I am now providing recordings of each workshop!
That means that if your plans change, you won't miss out, AND if you're not available on that particular Wednesday, you can still sign up and receive the packet and the video. Win-win!! This is also a great way for my international customers to participate -- no more time zone issues!!! All I ask is that you please not share these recordings with anyone else. Unauthorized sharing makes me sad... :(
(But to be honest, attending live is a better experience in general -- it's way more fun when you can be an active participant and ask questions, etc. Just sayin'...)
Each workshop is $20 (USD) and will run a total of 90 minutes, which gives us plenty of time for detailed instruction and questions.
A minimum of 6 people for each workshop would be appreciated. The maximum is 99, so no worries about getting locked out!
Please pick the workshop(s) you're interested in and click the corresponding Paypal button(s) to arrange for payment. You'll quickly receive a personal "thank you" from me to confirm your registration. (Note -- if you are ordering more than one workshop, you can place each item in your cart and then check out with everything at one time -- one-stop shopping!)
If possible, please register at least 4-5 days ahead of time. You will receive your Zoom invitation and workshop PDFs approximately three days prior to the workshop. But I am happy to welcome last-minute registrants and will do my best to accommodate you with Zoomvites and PDFs.
You do not need to have a Zoom account to join a meeting.
It's recommended that you join the workshop on your computer, laptop, or tablet. A smart phone will not be suitable for these sessions.
All times are Eastern time zone.
