Church in the Wildwood
Soundfiles! (yaaaay!!!)
Well, it only took me four years to get these done, but I hope you'll agree that it was worth the wait!
Every song in my Church in the Wildwood book has been carefully recorded in "real time" so that you can play along with these tracks for learning purposes, or just for fun!
With a few exceptions, here's what you'll hear on every song:
~~a 4-measure introduction (with a slight pause before starting the 1st verse)
~~1st verse: melody on the organ, with the "Easy" dulcimer part underneath
~~2nd verse: melody on the organ, with the "Fancy" dulcimer part underneath
~~3rd verse: melody on the organ (an octave higher), with BOTH "Easy" and "Fancy" parts underneath, and a slight ritard at the end. (That's called "pulling out all the stops" in the world of church music!)
Here is just one idea as to how you might use these soundfiles:
First, listen to the introduction -- you'll hear the tempo while getting ready to play. If you're able, play the "Fancy" part on the first verse; there's a slight pause between verses, but you'll have plenty of time to switch to the "Easy" part for the second verse. Then, for the third verse, play whichever part you want, and/or add the melody up the octave, or switch out the strumming pattern -- there are ideas listed in the book on certain songs to inspire you to try something new for the 3rd time through.
One caveat: Some of the songs require a capo for the "Easy" part, but NO capo for the "Fancy" part (or vice-versa). You might have to pause the recording while you add or remove your capo in those cases. Sorry 'bout that...
