Save the date: Saturday, December 17, 2022 -- set up at noonish, perform at 2:00. The Oaks at Denville -- 19 Pocono Road, Denville, NJ 07834. This is a "continuing care community," with many independent residents, as well as those in assisted living or full nursing care.

There will be armless folding chairs available for us to sit on. It's possible (depending on the final count of players) that we will fit on the stage in our usual U-shape position, but if not, we'll split into two rows, with one row on stage and the other row directly in front of the stage. They have an overhead mic system -- "choir mics" -- that will help project our sound, so if we can all fit on the stage, that would be best. They also have a mic for me to use (and Laila).
The room holds a maximum of 100 people, but if need be, they can open the partition at the back of the hall to include the beautiful living room, complete with roaring fire. (It will be festively decorated at that time of year!) Our guests (spouses/friends, etc.) may be asked to sit in that area if the residents have already claimed the choice seats.
I also took a photo of the backstage area where we can stow our cases.
The hall is ours at noon, giving us plenty time to set up and do a quick touch up, starting around 12:30.
Parking is abundant, but it is across the street, necessitating that we unload in the circle and then move the car. (If you only carry one dulcimer, you can easily do it in one trip directly from the parking lot.)
Masking is required when you arrive, but we can take off the masks when we're in the concert hall if we so choose. Vaccinations are not required.
I have asked that they place a basket at the entry point so that folks could drop in a few dollars on their way in or way out. (This will be our policy going forward -- we are not an "entity" that is set up to present a W9 for payment by check, but rather we are simply a group of volunteers who enjoy presenting free concerts in various venues, with no red tape and no liability. Lisa will keep track of whatever cash we receive and will distribute it as the need arises, possibly for gasoline and/or other expenses, such as printing costs, music, etc.)
The activities director did remark that Covid could again emerge in December, as it did last year, thus canceling everything... She and I will keep in close touch as the date draws closer and will update you with any pertinent information.
